Although we started in the UK, the micro:bit is now available in class rooms across the world. As new research from different places is available it will be published here.

UK Research Findings

As part of giving up to one million BBC micro:bits for free to every year 7 student in England and Wales, year 8 student in Northern Ireland and S1 student in Scotland the BBC also commissioned an impact study and found that... [BBC]:

  • 90% oppilaista sanoi havainneensa micro:bitin avulla, että kuka tahansa oppii koodaamaan.
  • 86% oppilaista sanoi, että micro:bitin ansiosta tietotekniikkan opiskelu tuntuu kiinnostavammalta kuin aikaisemmin.
  • Micro:bittiin tutustuminen lisäsi tyttöjen kiinnostusta tietotekniikkaan oppianeena 70 %:lla.
  • 85% opettajista oli sitä mieltä, että micro: bit tekee tietotekniikan opiskelusta hauskempaa.
  • Puolet micro:bittiä kokeilleista opettajista kertoi sen lisänneen itseluottamusta opettajana. Havainto koskee erityisesti niitä opettajia, jotka kokivat aiemmin epävarmuutta tietotekniikan opettamisesssa.
