The IET Lesson Collection

This is a series of resources created by the IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) as part of their highly successful IET Faraday brand to support the use of the BBC micro:bit in Design and Technology lessons. The micro:bit is used as a component part of a wider design and technology activity in order to add coding, logic, and automation into the wider context of product design. As such, the micro:bit forms an integral part of the solution to real world problems.

Each resource provides a starter activity focusing on analysing requirements and writing the design brief, a main activity that develops the system, and an extension that challenges students to integrate or further develop their system. Complete working sample programs in blocks and Python are provided for all resources, and these can be used as a starting point to further develop the product idea. Additionally, there is a short supporting video for each resource, which is accompanied by powerpoint slides and lesson handouts.
