The micro:bit is the result of companies and communities all around the world working together. We help young people learn to code so they in turn are confident and creative with technology. We're immensely grateful to everyone who's helped so far, and we're always looking for more people to help out.
There are plenty of ways to join the fun, from small things like spreading the word or donating a micro:bit to a local school, to big things that might change education for everyone.
Help bring microbit.org to your language
Learn how to get involved with the microbit.org multi-lingual project.
Our founding partners and community come up with incredible projects and new ideas for inspiring children using the micro:bit in the classroom or club. If you could contribute great resource please get in contact at firstname.lastname@example.org and send us an example of your micro:bit courses. If you need a little inspiration of your own then check out these great courses contributed by community members who wanted to share their passion for programming with new audiences.
Many fabulous people across the world have written books to help people learn more about micro:bit. So many that it is hard to keep up and list them all here on this website. If you are writing a book make sure you follow our community guidelines carefully. Do ensure you are using screen grabs from the latest coding editors. The Foundation will on occasion talk about books designed for children and educators on social media. Please get in contact via email@example.com if you want to let us know about your book project.
Become a micro:bit tester
We always need people to help us test the latest micro:bit software and learning resources. If you are over 13 and testing is your thing, sign up with the Foundation to do some real world beta testing!
We always need people to help us test the latest micro:bit software and learning resources. At the moment, we're testing a Windows 10 App in beta, for example. If you really enjoy finding errors and suggesting improvements on the current features this is great way to get involved with the Foundation.
Our entire community is truly valuable to us and we want to release the best App that meets everyone's needs. You have the power to influence and improve the features that work well for you and those that don't. You will help with the validation and finding issues with current use cases, but you may give us insights into use cases that we hadn't thought of before.
So if you are as excited as we are and interested in doing some real world beta testing, then sign up here!
Please note that Beta testing program is only open to those 13 and over. Everybody is welcome to test the App but we can only formally accept the feedback of participants of that age bracket.
Contribute to micro:bit open source projects
A lot of the magic that makes micro:bit work is the result of communities around the world developing and maintaining code.
For example, people posted micro:bits all around the world so that Python would run really well on the micro:bit.
We're always looking for more people to help us, so visit our Developer Community site to learn about how it all works and projects that you could help with.
We keep our main website here focused on what students and teachers need to know, but the developer community site contains loads more technical details for anyone wanting to look behind the scenes and get involved at a technical level.
Create an Editor
Do you have programming language that you love and would like to use it on a micro:bit? Then you could write an editor. Check out the editors that we know about…
Work at the Foundation
The Foundation has a very small, dedicated team with a lot to do. We employ people directly and on contract or via a secondment. We also have lots of lovely volunteers who work within the team.
When we have a new role that we can't fill internally we will list the role on Workable. Do check our jobs opportunities regularly if wish to join us.
Become a reseller or accessory maker
If you are interested in becoming a BBC micro:bit reseller or make accessories for it please fill out our reseller and accessory interest form.
We're always open to organisations and communities that share our mission and are interested to provide to help micro:bit. Individuals and organisations all over the world are doing projects with micro:bit at the grass-roots level. Do get in contact with us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you think you've got a way to support and work with us or the micro:bit.
The best help of all is hands-on. We encourage people to donate micro:bits to educators in their area and help them integrate micro:bit with their curriculum. Working to help teachers become confident with the micro:bit makes a huge difference to how effective it can be.
You can see groups and organisations already involved in the micro:bit community on our Ecosystem Page.
